The Gaston County Board of Education is conducting a survey to seek input from parents, school employees, business/civic leaders, and others in the community as part of the process to select the next superintendent of Gaston County Schools. The deadline to complete the survey is July 17.
āOur Superintendent Search Survey is an essential component of the Board of Educationās process to select the next superintendent for Gaston County Schools,ā said Board of Education chairman Jeffrey K. Ramsey. āThe survey asks people about what they would like to see in the person who is selected to be our new superintendent. It includes questions about the characteristics, experience, knowledge, and skills that the person chosen to lead the school system should possess.ā
Ramsey added, āWe encourage everyone associated with Gaston County Schools to take the survey, and we hope people will share the survey link with family members, neighbors, and friends as feedback from all stakeholders in the Gaston County community is important to us.ā
What's next: The N.C. School Boards Association (NCSBA) is facilitating the superintendent search process for the Board of Education. NCSBA will compile, summarize, and present the survey data to the Board of Education in August.
Effective July 1, Stephen C. Laws, Ed.D., will serve as interim superintendent while the superintendent search process continues and until a permanent superintendent is hired by the Board of Education.
