🎨 City of Gastonia Seeking Local Artists

The City of Gastonia has an exciting opportunity for those who have a passion for art and a desire to contribute to the beautification of our region.

The City, in collaboration with the NCDOT and Keep Gastonia Beautiful, is thrilled to announce the launch of the Traffic Signal Cabinet Art Project, and they are seeking submissions from local artists.

The project, funded by a $10,000 grant from ElectriCities in 2022, aims to transform ordinary traffic signal cabinets (located downtown and in the FUSE district) into vibrant works of art.

  • Artists from both North and South Carolina, regardless of age or experience level, are invited to participate.

Submission Details:

  • Artists can submit up to two proposals, each as a separate entry.

  • Include your name, phone number, and email in your submission.

  • Provide a PDF containing the art piece's name and a brief statement explaining the themes, goals, and concept behind your artwork.

  • More details regarding the contest rules and further details can be found here.

Please email your submissions to amber.bridges@gastonianc.gov by 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 27.

Gastonia's Director of Economic Development, Kristy Crisp, emphasized, "Public art is important because it spurs a feeling of creativity in our community, making the area a more vibrant and lively environment."
