šŸ† Gaston County Continues to Shine

The GBA is thrilled to share news of remarkable achievements by various Gaston County groups and departments. Our community has much to celebrate as Gaston County continues to excel on both regional and national platforms.

Gaston County Communications Office Shines on the National Stage

The Gaston County Communications Office has outdone itself by clinching its first-ever top national award at the City-County Communications and Marketing Association (3CMA) annual conference in Orlando, Florida. The "Savvy Award" in the multi-use photography category was awarded to their Curators, Cats, and Canines program, a heartwarming initiative in collaboration with the Gaston County Museum of Art and History and the Animal Care and Enforcement Shelter.

  • The program, spearheaded by Digital Media Specialist Joshua Braswell, features monthly photo shoots with adoptable animals dressed in themes related to museum activities.

  • What's heartening is that all the animals featured have been successfully adopted.

  • Judges commended the photographs for capturing the animals' personalities and their composition.

Additionally, Gaston County received a Silver Circle Award for its Annual Report Card, showcasing financial data and department accomplishments, and a 3rd place award for its engaging and informative podcast, Savvy Citizen.

Gaston County Recognized for Civic Excellence and Innovation

The North Carolina Association of County Commissioners (NCACC) recognized Gaston County's commitment to civic excellence and innovation at its 116th Annual Conference. Gaston County walked away with two of the ten coveted Innovation Awards in Civic Excellence.

The first award went to the Gaston County Department of Social Services SEALs Family Assistance Team for their exceptional work with the Haitian refugee population, focusing on employment, English language skills, and community assimilation.

The second award celebrated the Gaston County Minority and Women Business Enterprise/Historically Underutilized Business (MWBE/HUB) program for its remarkable efforts in increasing participation among minority and women-owned businesses in county construction projects.

The bottom line: These accolades underscore Gaston County's dedication to inclusivity, innovation, and service excellence.

Congratulations to all the awardees!

  • We are proud to witness Gaston County's continuous growth and commitment to excellence.

  • Stay tuned for more updates on our community's achievements.
