With extreme temperatures across the region, Gaston County Emergency Medical Services and Gaston County Community Support Services (CCS) have partnered with The Salvation Army and opened a public cooling station to help those in need.
The cooling station is at The Salvation Army Center of Hope in Downtown Gastonia, 107 S. Broad St. and will be open seven days a week, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to offer some relief from the heat for the most vulnerable in the community.
CSSÂ is also collecting much-needed supplies for those in need and has an Amazon Wish List. Donations may be sent to Community Support Services through Amazon.
For more information or if you have questions about the cooling center, email Community Support Services or call the CSS Hotline at 704-869-7387.
