The Gaston County Board of Commissioners is scheduled to hold a public hearing and consider incentives for Project Hemmingway, according to the agenda. Documents state the project calls for a total investment of $28.5 million to design and build a 100,000-square-foot facility at Apple Creek. The project calls for the creation of 60 jobs at an average annual wage of $53,000.
Project Hemmingway would locate at Lot 4 at Apple Creek, a parcel that documents show is over 9 acres.
Should the project move forward, the company behind it would pay $75,000 per acre for the site, board records state.
The county is considering a level two incentives grant for Project Hemmingway, as well as authorization for the county to enter into an economic development agreement for the project.
Apple Creek has landed five manufacturing investments since August 2020.
The county-owned industrial park, which spans more than 300 acres, has lured over $130 million in pledged investment in the last three years.
The most recent project broke ground there in March.
