🎊 ICYMI: GBA's Annual Celebration



This past Friday, December 8th, the Gaston Business Association hosted our Annual Meeting and Celebration, a highly anticipated event held at the Gastonia Conference Center. The event, presented by CaroMont Health, was a momentous occasion that brought together local business leaders.


Why it matters: The chosen theme for this year's gathering, "Honoring Our Past, Celebrating Our Present, Charting Our Future," underscored our commitment to recognizing the remarkable accomplishments within the community.


What’s next: One of the highlights of the event was the presentation of awards to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the community. Three exceptional leaders were recognized for their dedication and impact on the Gaston business community.

  • Cythnia Sitt was honored with the Duke Energy Citizenship and Service Award for her tireless efforts to enhance the lives of all people in the Highland area. Cynthia’s commitment to community service and her unwavering dedication to creating positive change have left an indelible mark, embodying the spirit of the award.


  • Patricia Goble proudly accepted the Aurora Award for her impactful work with women in the workplace and the community. Patricia’s contributions have not only empowered women in business but have also fostered an environment of inclusivity and equality, making her a beacon of inspiration for others.


  • Cathy Cauthen Young was recognized with the Athena Award for her impactful leadership in Cramerton over the years. Cathy’s visionary approach and commitment to community development have played a pivotal role in shaping the landscape of Cramerton, making her a deserving recipient of this prestigious accolade.


The big picture: In addition to honoring these incredible community members, we took a moment to acknowledge our current board members, and welcome our incoming board members.


  • Recognition of Outgoing Board Members: Special tribute to Dan Boyd (Alliance Bank) and Terry Cox (TechWorks Gaston), esteemed board members rolling off the GBA Board.

  • Welcome to New Board Members: Warm welcomes for John Forgan (First Horizon) and Melia Mauldin (Steel Specialty) as they join the Board.

  • Acknowledging Board Leadership: Heartfelt acknowledgment to outgoing Board Chair, Eric Clay (MECA Commercial) for his impactful leadership in 2023.

  • Introducing the 2024 Board Chair: Announcement of incoming 2024 Board Chair, Kerri Massey (Holy Angels).
