Last year, GBA Investor Holy Angels brought back its summer Volunteens program after a years-long hiatus.
Why it matters: The program has grown to include 55 Gaston County teens this year, providing valuable experiences for both the volunteers and Holy Angels residents.
Details:
Duration: The seven-week program runs from June through early August.
Work Schedule: Teens work three hours a day, five days a week.
Activities: First-year volunteers engage in art activities, walks, special olympics games, and even attend prom with residents. Returning volunteers can work at various Holy Angels storefronts.
What they’re saying: “It gives us an opportunity to share a message with young supporters and get them comfortable with our residents and this population. It encourages them to look at this as a field to potentially go into someday,” said Holy Angels spokesman Shawn Flynn.
