🏗 Walton Global Expands Gaston County Portfolio

Land asset manager Walton Global Holdings has added to its Gaston County portfolio with a major land acquisition.

Walton Global last month acquired 143 acres near Beatty and Union New Hope roads in Gastonia.

  • The firm paid nearly $3.1 million for the site, according to county real estate records.

  • Walton Global acquires land to facilitate residential development and has significant holdings in the area around Union New Hope Road.

  • The site was acquired from an entity affiliated with Atlanta-based The Ardent Cos., real estate records show.

The site has been branded as Springhaven II. It is zoned for single-family residential uses and is part of the Springhaven master-planned community.

What they're saying: “There are a variety of manufacturing companies operating within Gaston County,” said Mike Doherty, Walton Global's senior vice president for land. “Springhaven II offers strong job opportunity for future residents looking to settle in the area.”

Why it matters: The deal adds to Walton Global's flurry of activity in the area around Union New Hope Road.

Earlier this year, Meritage Homes Corp. rezoned a 219-acre, Walton Global-owned site at 637 Union New Hope Road to allow for 526 homes.

  • Walton Global initially bought hundreds of acres there in 2021 before adding 120 more acres in a purchase last year.

  • The latest acquisition builds on the firm's strategy to add homes in the county west of Charlotte.

Walton Global has also used its land holdings to spur large projects with notable homebuilders in Cabarrus County and Union County in recent years. The Scottsdale, Arizona-based company owns more than 90,000 acres between its holdings in the U.S. and Canada.
